Jack: Nine Months

Sorry that this is almost a month late - I thought that I had already done it - oops!

Age: 9 months

Weight: 21 lbs
Length: I dunno
Size: 12-18 months - solidly.
Hair: Mommy is really considering trimming Jack's hair over his ears.
Teeth:  No new teeth this month

Sleeping: Jack has struggled with ear infections this month, so his sleep has suffered.  He has been waking up several times each night, but since Mommy can never tell if he is in pain, she is a little more patient with him.
Eating: He has started eating a lot more table food.  Wheat bread with almond butter, fresh mozzarella cheese and macaroni and cheese have become favorites.

Movement: He is now moving forward, but I wouldn't quite call it "crawling" yet.  He is pulling up in his crib as well, so maybe he'll walk before he crawls!
Milestones: Jack had his first trip to the park - he loved the swing and seemed to not hate the slide with Grandpa.  He is now pulling up to stand on his own.
Favorite Toys/Activities: Jack LOVES swimming in his crabby pool at the cottage.  He spent almost two hours in there over Memorial Day weekend.  He also loves books, and will lunge out of his rocking chair to get to his bookshelves.  He turns the pages if you are reading too slowly, though!

Dislikes: Waiting on his food.  Mommy often has to give him an "appetizer" (mum-mums or puffs) to keep him from screaming while she heats up his food.
Words & Sounds:  He has started squealing loudly and flapping his arms for more food.

Jack: Eight Months

Age: 8 months

Weight: 19.5 pounds
Length: 27.75 inches
Size: 12-18 months in most things
Hair: His hair is starting to get really long over his ears and a little mullet-y in the back!
Teeth:  No new teeth this month

Sleeping: He has greatly improved in sleeping in the past week.  He is sleeping in his own room in his crib all night.  Sometimes he wakes up once to eat, but recently he hasn't been doing that every night.
Eating: Jack loves eating now!  His favorite purees are peas, pears, mango, sweet potato and applesauce.  He is now eating some more solid stuff as well.  Mum-mums and whole wheat bread are his favorites, along with puffs, black olives, and chicken.

Movement: He wants to crawl so badly, but he can't quite get the hang of it.  He rocks back & forth, but can't coordinate his arms & legs at the same time, so he falls on his face!
Milestones: First Easter & ANOTHER Ear Infection (the 3rd in 3.5 months!) along with our first ruptured ear drum.
Favorite Toys/Activities: Jack loves his new crocheted animals that Grandma Marla had made for him - Mr. Crabby is his favorite.  He has also discovered that he can feed LuLu from his high chair.  He will lean completely over and put pieces of bread and puffs right in her mouth.  Mommy is thrilled.

Dislikes: Being away from Mommy (he is particularly bad about this in the morning while Mommy is getting ready to go to work), wind, being away from Miss Annette (he is happy with someone else as long as she is in the room), not being able to crawl.
Words & Sounds:  Jack & Daddy like to smack their lips at each other (it makes a pretty cool popping noise), and he is super babbley.

Jack: Seven Months

Age: 7 months

Weight: 19 pounds
Length: 27.25 inches
Size: He can squeeze into a few 6-12 month things, but he's mainly wearing 12-18 month stuff
Hair: still getting longer
Teeth:  We have teeth!  Two, to be exact (O & P for all my dental nerds)

Sleeping: He has been waking up to eat a couple times a night again, who knows when he'll be consistent.  Probably when he goes to college.
Eating: He has finally gotten the hang of eating baby food.  Momma has had fun making him all kinds of yummy homemade food.  Here's what he's enjoyed so far: avocado, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas, green beans, banana, mango & pears.  He is now eating one cube of food at daycare and one or two in the evening.

Movement: Jack has started scooting backwards across his room, but he gets stuck when he hits a wall!
Milestones: Two new teeth.  Another ear infection.
Favorite Toys/Activities: We got a new couch, and Jack loves sitting in the corner of it with his basket of toys.  He really likes his shape sorter that Lynn & Ann got for him!

Dislikes: Amoxicillin, face-planting while sitting, being away from Mommy.
Words & Sounds:  He is pretty vocal these days, lots of babbling and squealing!

Jack: Six Months

Age: 6 months

Weight: 19 pounds
Length: not sure
Size: Mainly 6-12 months, but he's wearing a few 12-18 month outfits
Hair: starting to get a little long over his ears - he might need a trim soon!
Teeth:  We have been waiting for teeth to come for months now, and we are *maybe* seeing the first peek of a tooth, but who knows, Mommy is wrong a lot!

Sleeping: Jack has started sleeping through the night again!  Yay!
Eating: We have officially started solids.  Jack ate avocado every day last week, and has been trying sweet potatoes this week.  He definitely prefers the avocado, but we're going to keep trying on the sweet potatoes.  He is still loving his breastmilk, too - he doesn't want anyone to touch his bottle when he's eating.
Movement: He has finally started rolling back over from his belly to his back.  He can also pivot around on his belly to get to one of his favorite toys.
Milestones: First airplane ride!!  We went to visit Grandma & Grandpa Winters in Florida and Jack did great on the plane.  Daddy hopes that Jack loves flying as much as he does.  He also went to the beach for the first time on our trip.
Favorite Toys/Activities: Now that Grandma & Grandpa are back from Florida, Jack had to get his own jumper for our house - he loves jumping more than ever!  He also has become attached to a little orange blimp bath toy.  He will search through his toy basket until he finds it.
Dislikes: Falling asleep by himself - Mommy and Daddy can't figure out how to get Jack to sleep without laying down with him.
Words & Sounds:  He is definitely signing for milk now, and he is babbling constantly - lots of "dadadada gagagaga"

Jack: Five Months

Age: 5 months

Weight: 18 pounds
Length: not sure
Size: Some of his 6-9 months clothes are getting tight, most 6-12 month clothes fit pretty well.
Hair: Getting thicker
Teeth: None yet, but we're pretty sure he's working on some.  He's been a little cranky and drooly.  He also loves to grab the finger of whoever is holding him and chomp down.
Sleeping: At the beginning of the month he was back to sleeping all night, but for the past two weeks he has been waking up several times fussy. He doesn't take long to get back to sleep, and doesn't even always eat, but it still makes mommy a little tired.
Eating: He tried solid food for the first time this month!  Twice mommy has given him avocado in his mesh feeder, but he hasn't seemed interested at all, so we're going to wait a few weeks and try again.
Movement: Still rolling over from back to belly, but he still hasn't figured out how to get back onto his back.
Milestones: We had out first ER trip on Jack's 5 month birthday.  He started coughing on Friday and on Saturday he started coughing up all of his milk.  He also had a mild fever and seemed lethargic, so the pediatrician said we should go to the ER.  Guess what?  We have our first ear infection!
Favorite Toys/Activities: Since Grandma & Grandpa left to go to Florida, we took the bouncer from their house back to our house.  He loves it and will sit in it bouncing for a half hour or so.  He also has fallen back in love with Sophie the giraffe now that he is teething.
Dislikes: Being sick!  He likes taking his tylenol, but he doesn't like his amoxicillin as much.
Words & Sounds:  Jack is definitely squealing a lot more, and he has actually started signing a little bit (mommy isn't sure if maybe she is just imagining it!) - he opens and closes his hand for "milk" sometimes before he wants to eat.

Jack: Four Months

Age: 4 months

Weight: 17.5 pounds
Length: 26 inches
Size: He is still wearing a few 3-6 month clothes, but his 6-9 and 6-12 month clothes fit him the best.
Hair: His hair is definitely getting longer, I now have to actually brush it after his baths.
Teeth: Nope
Sleeping: We have had a little regression as far as sleep goes.  He had a cold for the past few weeks and has been waking himself up coughing at night.  Once he was awake, he realized that he could eat at night, so now he has been waking up a few times a night to eat, even though his cough is almost gone.  Mommy doesn't mind, though, because she misses him during the day while she is at work.
Eating: He is still eating really well from the bottle and breast, but since he is eating more at night, he isn't eating as many bottles during the day.
Movement: At the beginning of the month, he rolled over from his belly to his back, but he hasn't done that again since then.  Just yesterday, however, he rolled over from his back to his belly!  He must have thought that it was really fun, because once he started, he was rolling all night long.
Milestones: Jack's first Christmas was great!  He got lots of presents from Santa, and he even enjoyed helping to rip the paper off of a few.
Favorite Toys/Activities: He has started to really settle in at daycare.  He loves Miss Annette and Miss Susie, which makes Mommy very happy.  He really loves watching Charlotte and the other kids play - it really entertains him!  He is still a big fan of being naked, the "no pants dance" is still his favorite time of day.
Dislikes: Putting his pajamas on after "the no pants dance."  He gets so mad at us when we even pick up his diaper!  He also doesn't like waiting on his bottle to be warmed up.  Phillip's boss Phil (confusing, right?!) takes his little girl Charlotte to Jack's daycare, and he says that when he drops her off Jack is often waiting impatiently for his bottle to warm.  I keep telling Jack that if he would just take his bottle cold, then he could have it more quickly, but he isn't listening to Mommy!
Words & Sounds: Jack has found his voice!  When he is happy, he squeals very loudly. I will try to upload a video soon so you can hear him!
